Jeremy DeBordPast President From: 2019-2020
I am truly honored to serve as the 2019-2020 President of the Rotary Club of Lancaster. As a 4th generation business owner and service club member, I have been raised to respect the traditions and ideologies of the generations before me.
Our club has been blessed with a rich heritage of not only extremely accomplished individuals but also civic minded ones as well; who have helped mold our wonderful club over its 104-year history.
Rotary focuses on fighting to end hunger and poverty, eradicating polio, and increasing environmental awareness not only within our local community, but across our entire country and the world.
I have always adhered to the adage that “if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it.” While Rotary certainly is not broken, the world around us has and will continue to change and it is our duty as Rotarians to adapt to these changes in order to continue to grow our club and continue serving our community.
While I have a variety of goals and metrics to track those goals, I plan to make it my priority as President to grow our club with new members while focusing on attracting a younger and more diverse membership in order to better position our club for success for generations to follow.
In addition to the strategies our club currently uses, in order to attract new members, particularly younger members, we must focus on promoting the immediate benefits to them, both personally and professionally which they will receive by joining our club.
To grow our club, I also believe in utilizing technology, particularly the internet and social media to attract and engage new members. We have an interactive website and an active social media presence. We need to continue integrating these to work in conjunction to promote our initiatives to help build our club’s brand awareness and convey our brand equity to the community and to potential new members.
I also believe that in order to increase membership we must offer flexibility regarding attendance. This is why I plan to offer a variety of “after-hours” social and business networking events at various restaurants and brewpubs in order to offer additional meeting options for those who find it difficult to attend our traditional weekly meetings; as well as acting as a lead source to attract new members.
Finally, I plan to collaborate with other local networking and social/service organizations within Lancaster to find synergies as well as offering family-friendly fellowship opportunities, again to hopefully increase our membership and possibly attract a different demographic.
Rotary is very near and dear to my heart and I hope that you would consider learning more about our wonderful club.
