Graduating from the University of Delaware in English & Geology, Cathy Thom enjoyed working for over 40 years in Information Technology. She retired as Chief Information Officer from a pharmaceutical research firm and did consulting and project management with PriceWaterhouse Cooper, Deloitte and Touch, and GE for 10 years. Currently she helps people in their homes at Willow Valley Communities and serves on the Executive Board for the over 600-member Computer Club there.
In 2000 at the age of 60 Cathy climbed Kilimanjaro for the first time. She felt the pull to go back and climbed the second time in 2008.
Since then she has taken part 5 times in the 8 Tuff Miles Run/Walk race on St. John in the Virgin lslands, winning her age group twice. She and Jim have climbed Machu Pichu and taken 8 bicycle trips in Europe of up to 200 miles each.
Jim worked for DuPont for 35 years and retired as Director of Worldwide Sales for the Industrial Division. He and Cathy travelled a number of times to East and South Africa. They have presented this program extensively especially to Rotary Clubs.
