Joseph V. Sweeney is the Executive Director of the Water Science Institute (WSI), which he co­ founded in 2016 with Drs. Dorothy Merritts and Robert Walter of Franklin and Marshall College. He brings to the job over 40 years of experience in both the public and private sector. He is a past member of the Lancaster City Water Authority and Past Chair of the Lancaster Farmland Trust Board of Trustees. Currently he represents WSI on the Steering Committee of the Lancaster Clean Water Partners which is the county-wide coalition formed to achieve clean, clear water for Lancaster County.

The nonprofit Water Science institute’s mission is to promote the sustainable, science-based benefits of projects that provide available, clean water through conservation, restoration, research and exploration.

Today’s presentation outlines how the Institute is developing mapping technologies, economic analysis and academic research that advance the goal of clear, clean water.
